TINY REMINDERS

Question your teaspoons.
What we need to question is bricks, concrete, glass, our table manners, our utensils, our tools, the way we spend our time, our rhythms. To question that which seems to have ceased forever to astonish us.
We live, true, we breathe, true; we walk, we go downstairs, we sit at a table in order to eat, we lie down on a bed on order to sleep. How? Where? When? Why?
Describe your street. Describe another. Compare.
Question your teaspoons.

LOCAL

A simple project documenting the banality of domestic ephemera throughout lockdown v1.0, 2020. Being ‘trapped’ allowed many folks to consider and reflect on countless aspects of being and to question their life structures and rituals. It’s difficult to avoid such inner scrutiny under said circumstances.
The dullness of home life became a source of fascination, even inspiration for numerous people, myself included.
These instances, arrangements and snippets became a photographic focus. What emerged were scenes that conveyed a rich history and aesthetic force purely through being. A force that shifted their presence into the present. The articles became physical through their dwelling, their being. Such matters became a language; the language became a descriptor of reality.
-    ?
We are surrounded by junk and detritus. Domestic flotsam. Ornamental, sentimental, functional and the obsolete. Everything has a story; connotations cannot be erased. Everything is imprisoned in a narrative. Attending to this notion brings everything into the immediate, the now… the instant becomes the material, the material offers language, the language becomes our reality…
Very often we become stuck in a loop.
But, loops have holes…
